We are looking for hardworking and enthusiastic candidates to join the City Safeguarding Team at Nottingham City Council.

The starting salary for a Level 2 Social Worker is £30,095 (Tier One) rising to £31,895 (Tier Two) on the first year anniversary, subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period (pro rata for part time workers).

We welcome applications from candidates at all stages of their Social Work career, and have a structured career development framework in place for all Social Workers:

 

  • Social Worker Level 1 – Newly qualified, eligible to commence the ASYE programme
  • Social Worker Level 2 – ASYE completed within the last 12 months, building experience and competency
  • Social Worker Level 3 – Experienced Social Worker with at least 12 months post-ASYE experience
  • Social Worker Level 4 – Advanced Social Worker, holding AMHP, BIA or Practice Educator status

Nottingham City Council Adult Social Care is a welcoming and supportive department, where Social Workers strive to achieve person centred outcomes, with a focus on choice, independence and control for the citizen. This is achieved via a strengths based approach for citizens from all parts of the community, and by developing and maintaining strong working partnerships with local health and voluntary organisations.

 

The department comprises various assessment and review focused teams, as well as specialised services and programmes / project teams that focus on re-engaging citizens with their community and encouraging creative support planning.

 

The City Safeguarding team are a crucial and fast paced team who work with adults and older people who are at risk and are experiencing adult abuse.  The team work within the Care Act to ensure that appropriate support and interventions are in place.   Making Safeguarding Personal is a key element in this role to ensure that the person’s outcomes are considered and this is balanced with risk.  Multi-agency working is also essential in supporting the vulnerable person in protection planning and minimising risk.

 

Nottingham City Council Adult Social Care offers a robust ASYE programme for newly qualified Social Workers, and other various development programmes for all Social Workers, such as AMHP qualifications and Practice Educator status.

 

All permanent Social Workers are given the opportunity to rotate into different areas of Adult Social Care, and take part in project work at a strategic level when available.

Essential Requirements

  1. Professional qualification in Social Work (Degree in Social work, Dip SW, CQSW, CSS etc.) and evidence of current Social Work England registration
  2. Comprehensive knowledge and application of legal, policy frameworks and research which inform and mandate Social Work practice
  3. Comprehensive workload management techniques including prioritisation, risk management and time management
  4. Evidence of a range of approaches to challenge discrimination and inequalities
