Are you an ambitious, forward looking Senior Educational Psychologist or an EP with previous experience of management and leadership?  Or perhaps you are already a Principal EP and you are looking for a new professional challenge?  If so,  this job will be of interest to you.
You will join Leicestershire County Council SEND Service and lead the Educational Psychology Service at an exciting time.  The County Council is working towards becoming a trauma informed organisation. Collectively, we are dealing with the challenges of increasing demand for EHC Needs Assessment by embarking on our highly ambitious ‘Transforming SEND and Inclusion in Leicestershire’ (TSIL) programme.   The TSIL programme will build upon extensive recent diagnostic work that has identified the need for a whole-system review of SEND and Inclusion in Leicestershire.  Building upon the direction of travel within the SEND Green Paper, we want to develop a culture of high expectations for children and young people with SEND. This will involve challenging every aspect of the additional support that the Local Area provides. We will  encourage a relentless focus upon effective assessment and co-ordinated early SEN support that enables children to develop and achieve.  We will celebrate innovative inclusive practices within our schools and settings.
Building upon the momentum of the previous post-holder, we are exploring innovative ways to manage the statutory demands upon the service. We wish to encourage  EPs to use their skills to best effect, supporting effective whole school practice, utilising their unique knowledge to assist schools and settings to achieve better outcomes for children and young people.
The LEPS offers a mixture of traded service and statutory work. All staff are encouraged to develop specialisms.  There is a good mix of experienced staff, more newly qualified staff, as well as trainee EPs with links to local universities.   As a member of the SEND and Inclusion Management Team you will have an opportunity to support the wider TSIL developments and build upon the excellent work of previous leadership.
Success for Leicestershire will mean that all of our partners value and celebrate diversity and inclusion.  As such, we are seeking candidates who recognise and celebrate the good practice across the County, whilst having the courage and skills to provide support and challenge when poor practice is observed and work as part of a leadership team to find innovative solutions.

Leicestershire welcomes applicants who are seeking flexible working arrangements and that we are currently developing a recruitment and retention package that will potentially offer additional financial benefit to candidates applying for this role.

For an informal discussion please contact Tom Common (Head of Service SEN and Disability) on or George Pasternicki on (Interim PEP)
We are on a journey to be an inclusive department where a culture to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion is embedded and discrimination challenged at every level together as a department.  We warmly welcome those from all cultures, ethnicities and beliefs - this diversity is vital to our journey and is fundamental to our values and enriches the services we offer our children and families. We particularly welcome applicants from black, minority, ethnic (BME) communities, disabled people and lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities, as they are currently under represented within our workforce.
