This is an exciting opportunity to work in the busy and innovative Business Intelligence Service of Leicestershire County Council.  We are now recruiting to a 1-year fixed term Research & Insight Manager post to support consultation and engagement across the council.

Your work will involve liaising with managers in departments wishing to carry out consultation and engagement exercises. You will gather requirements, design the activity (in collaboration with colleagues in the corporate Policy and Communications Teams), work with other Business Intelligence colleagues to prepare materials (including surveys) and produce high-quality analytical reports, dashboards and presentations for a variety of audiences. This may also require work to improve data collection systems, reporting processes and self-serve solutions, including the implementation of a new engagement portal.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, educated to degree level or with equivalent skills, with experience of managing work in a busy business intelligence or consultation/communications environment. Experience of consultation and engagement in the public sector and the legal requirements for consultation would be an advantage.

You will have excellent IT skills and proven ability to learn new packages as well as knowledge of specialist software that underpins the team’s work areas. Knowledge of SNAP survey software and Tableau (or similar survey and visualisation packages) would be an advantage but also others such as SPSS, R, and Excel (or equivalent).

As well as excellent technical skills, you will have good project management, presentation, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise and meaningful reports and provide an interpretation of research findings. You will be highly skilled at questionnaire design and have a good understanding of the application of best practice qualitative research techniques.

Please see the Job Description / Person Specification which are attached further down on this page. Please note that the Job description is generic for this level of position in the service but the role will be solely focused on providing Business Intelligence support for corporate consultations and engagement.

The team is currently working remotely at this time and therefore the recruitment interviews and assessment processes will also take place virtually. We support flexible working practices and are embracing new ways of working. Post-pandemic, we anticipate our service will be delivered through a mixture of home and office-based working and we can offer a high degree of flexibility around this to suit individual preferences.
