This vacancy is for a newly-created permanent role to implement a business case for an additional in-house lawyer to cover existing workloads within our growing team.
At Leicestershire County Council we place a very high value on job satisfaction for our childcare lawyers. This is why we have designed the childcare team to ensure that each lawyer :-
*is assigned an experienced and highly motivated paralegal to provide dedicated case work support ;

*has the opportunity to focus on quality written and verbal advice work;
*has space and time to undertake advocacy where appropriate (we encourage advocacy but are not an ‘in-house advocacy team’);
*has the opportunity to mentor colleagues in the team, particularly junior lawyers and paralegals.
*has high quality supervision and support from their management team (two team leaders and an Assistant Head of Law all very experienced in this area of law) ;
*has effective IT systems in place to enable flexible and efficient hybrid and remote working.

In addition we offer a work culture that reflects the councils’ core values of trust and respect, positivity, flexibility and openness and transparency.
We recognise the importance of a proper work/life balance and employee wellbeing, offering a generous pension, access to a lifestyle benefits programme, a campus equipped with a canteen, shop and restaurant which is very close to good transport networks and offering free on-site staff car parking.

Please apply sending us your CV as well a supporting statement, detailing how you meet the requirements of the post. The supporting statement should be no longer than two sides of A4 and be incorporated into your CV, to form a single document.
