The starting salary is £22,571 (Level One) rising to £23,953 (Level Two) on the first year anniversary, subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period (pro rata for part time workers).

The information officer will work in the Information Compliance Team in Legal and Governance under the supervision of the Data Protection Officer/Data Protection Solicitor.  Freedom of information and data protection are hot topics right now and this role is a fantastic opportunity for a talented person to develop their information skills.  Citizens have the right to make requests for information and your role will be to help facilitate these requests.  You will learn to redact documents and how to deal with the citizens statutory requests.  You will also learn about other types of requests and will receive training in the areas of data protection and freedom of information.
 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
 

  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential material
  • Ability to manage a large and varied caseload
  • Ability to deal with customer enquiries effectively and sensitively, liaising frequently with teams across the Council and external agencies
  • Ability to write memos and letters in a clear and understandable manner relating to complex legislation
  • Competent in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets, data bases, presentational software and the internet
  • Good awareness of the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a positive and inclusive manner
