This is a fantastic opportunity to join our HR Strategy and OD team, where you’ll be part of a small, dedicated and friendly team that are passionate about the development and delivery of HR strategy and policy.
The focus of the role will be to support the design, development and implementation of our HR policies and procedures as well as assisting the consultation process. You will also assist with the coordination of job evaluation.
You will demonstrate the Council’s values and principles when working with stakeholders and partners. You’ll be comfortable managing a busy workload, prioritising effectively while maintaining clear and frequent communication with stakeholders. You should have strong attention to detail and be able to deliver under pressure to high standards
Key responsibilities:
• Assist in the development of new HR policies, guidance notes and training sessions for publication and delivery on a range of HR/OD subjects.
• Support informal and formal consultation/negotiation with trade union representatives with regard of policy and procedure.
• With the support of HR colleagues, develop and deliver reports to formal meetings, committees and managers.
• Assist with the Job Evaluation process and administration.
• Provide advice, support and develop effective working relationships with the corporate employee workers groups and external HR and equality & diversity networks.
• Provide support for the delivery of the Council’s People Strategy projects.
The ideal candidate:
• A degree or equivalent is desirable.
• Level 3 or level 5 membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
• Experience of Job Evaluation-Hay Job evaluation qualification is desirable.
• Experience of contributing to the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, guidance, processes and/or toolkits.
• Experience of writing or contributing to reports for management meetings and/or committees.
• Experience of successfully working with Trade Unions and/or employee representatives.
• Good understanding of employment and case law.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
