JOB PURPOSE:
To provide practical assistance of the highest standard supporting Social Workers, Children and Families, including kinship carers and foster carers where appropriate
     
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Some evidence of childcare training.
• Relevant paid or unpaid experience of working with young people within a social care setting or similar.
• Experience of behavioural work with children / young people and their carers
• Knowledge of child development
• Knowledge of Home Safety Issues
• Knowledge of Safeguarding children issues
• Organisational and planning skills
• Ability to work creatively
• Basic child behavioural techniques
• Ability to relate with children, young people, parents and other professionals
• Ability to work with a range of professionals and engage in Multi-disciplinary work
• Time Management/organisational skills
• To understand and apply County Councils Equal Opportunity Policy
• IT skills/email/Microsoft word
• Able to produce clear, accurate records and reports.
• Able to communicate clearly and accurately, orally and in writing, with a wide range of people, including representatives from other agencies, using skills of negotiation and persuasion.
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
• Attendance - evidence of regular attendance at work
• Ability to travel to service points within Leicestershire County Council in a cost efficient way
• Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.  However a reasonable adjustment will be considered for an applicant with a disability.
