As a Highway Authority, Leicestershire County Council has statutory responsibility to manage, maintain and repair the highway across the County. As part of delivering this duty the Council must plan, schedule and undertake road works. These works must be undertaken in accordance to other relevant legislation and codes of practice, such as permit schemes.
  
The Technician/ Scheduler role is to support the delivery of the Council’s responsibility by categorising, creating and prioritising work packages, responding to customer enquiries and facilitating the scheduling of road works.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Categorise, prioritise and create works instructions for operational delivery for cyclical seasonal activities

Schedule works activities which require access to the network for LCC Highways Operations and monitor requirements for network activity for subcontractors

Liaise with Supervisors and receive and provide information related to the scheduling of works, including any provisions requested by the network management service, such as permit conditions or working days/times.

Serve as the primary interface between interested parties, such as the Council’s network management or transport providers, to schedule works and obtain any relevant authorisations to work, e.g. a permit or Temporary Traffic Regulation Order.

Obtain all relevant permissions to work on the Highway, as required under legislation and associated statutory guidance and codes of practice.

Submit permit applications for applicable works, taking into consideration the scope of the Leicestershire Permit Scheme and the requirements of network management.
