Salary Range £22,185 to £24,495 (subject to April 2021 pay award which is expected to be at least 1.75%)
Annualised Hours: Between 40 and 50 hours per week.
Base Location: 
Whetstone RHWS and WTS, Kibworth RHWS, Bardon Waste Transfer Station (WTS), or another appropriate base within these localities.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Waste Management Delivery Service, as such Leicestershire County Council is looking to recruit a Transfer Station Team Leader to support in the operation of the Council’s Waste Transfer Stations (WTS).
You will be responsible for the management and operation of a variety of plant and equipment that will include HGV, loading shovels, telehandlers, and forklift trucks for the efficient and effective transfer of waste from busy WTS.  The role will also involve supervision of employees and staff training and development and ensuring that your team maximises the recovery of recyclables within waste and safely controls deliveries from private traders and district councils.  The role requires a proactive, flexible, ‘can do’ attitude. Effective time-management and problem-solving skills are key attributes.
  • A full, Clean & Valid HGV Driving License (training may be provided to suitable candidates that do not currently have a valid HGV licence) and insurance for business use (commuting vehicle)
  • Loading shovel ticket (training may be provided to suitable candidates that do not currently have a valid loading shovel ticket)
  • A knowledge of waste transfer station operations
  • Supervision of employees in the waste management industry or similar workplace
