KS2 Class Teacher
Key base: Broom Leys Primary School
Full Time
Fixed Term until 31 August 2022
Start date: 21 February 2022
Teacher Main Pay Scale
If you believe that you could contribute to a school which at its last inspection was recognised as good in all areas and has continued to improve, then we would welcome your application.
We are looking to appoint a full-time teacher in KS2 (Year 6), temporary until 31st August 2022 to cover maternity leave, starting on Monday 21st February 2022.
Broom Leys is a large primary school (590+ on roll), with three classes in each year group. Within each year group teachers work in teams, alongside expert Learning Support Assistants and Cover Supervisors (who provide PPA and other release time).
Why would you choose Broom Leys?
If you were to gain employment at Broom Leys you will find children who enjoy school, are positive about their experiences and who will make you feel very welcome.
We have excellent facilities including two computer suites, a newly refurbished music room, several quiet rooms, a large hall and library. The outdoor environment extends to 9 acres and includes a good sized playing field, a ball court, nature areas and mature grounds for outdoor learning, including Forest Schools.
Music and the Arts play a large part in school life. We have a vibrant choir and endeavour to provide children with a range of opportunities to participate in and to enjoy live performances. Last year the school was awarded the Leicestershire Schools’ Music Service Silver Award.
Sport is a real strength. We have been awarded the School Games Platinum Award. But don’t worry if you’re not a sports specialist; we employ our own PE and Sports coach who will teach alongside you to develop your skills and confidence in this area.
The school converted to Academy Status in November 2012, allowing us greater creativity with our curriculum and flexibility with our finances. We employ teachers on the same Terms and Conditions as those in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. In November 2017 we formed a Multi Academy Trust along with the two local secondary schools, The Castle Rock School and The Newbridge School. This is an exciting development in the life of the school and one which is benefiting us through shared expertise and staff development.
We provide high quality continuous professional development to all of our staff, either through Apollo Partnership Trust or through the local Teaching School. We also offer in-house training, making the most of the expertise within our own staff, including six Specialist Leaders of Education and a Maths Mastery Specialist Teacher.
The best way to get to know us is to come and visit. If you would like to do so, you are more than welcome; please just get in touch with a member of the school admin team who will be able to make an appointment for you.
For further details, please email or contact Amanda Roe on Tel: 01530 832234.
Closing date for application: 10:00am on 25th January 2022.
All completed applications should be emailed to prior to this date and time.
It is anticipated that the interviews will take place Monday 31 January 2022.
People with disabilities and from ethnic minorities are underrepresented in our staff group. We welcome applications from suitably qualified/experienced people from these groups.
