Oak Field School and Sports College is a Special School for 168 pupils aged 3 – 19 with a wide range of learning difficulties (SLD, PMLD and CLDD) and/or physical disabilities, including complex health needs, sensory needs, and some challenging behaviours linked to learning needs.
We are seeking a positive, proactive, enthusiastic, and highly organised person with a strong background/interest in school or similar Reception duties, who can communicate effectively with a wide range of people; a broader interest in contributing towards improving outcomes for children and young people with SEN and/or disability and their families is desirable.
The post is overseen by the Office Manager, and the role includes;
  • Reception and switchboard
  • Welcoming pupils, staff, parents/carers, Hydro pool and café users, other professionals and visitors
  • Controlling the school entrance doors, with the emphasis on Safeguarding
  • Liaising with Transport and Respite services, making sure that the pupils have letters, medication, bags and other equipment with them when they travel, as appropriate
  • Liaising with Health staff, especially in terms of medication transit
  • Delivering messages, sorting the post and dealing with deliveries
  • Maintaining bus, home-school transport lists and pupil and staff information such as after-school club and car registration lists etc
  • Maintaining clean and tidy Reception and Heart Space areas
  • Managing lost and found property
  • Providing general clerical and administrative support, including reprographics
The postholder is expected to use software packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer, and to do simple data entry. S/he must also be willing to undertake further training as appropriate, to support the school’s work experience programme, and to participate actively in the wider life of the school, including enrichment opportunities.
Working hours are Thursday and Friday 8am-4.30pm, term-time only, with 30 minutes lunchbreak.
