We are looking for a friendly, self-motivated, trustworthy and organised person to join our Museums & Heritage team.  The successful candidate will support the operational aspects of financial processes and the delivery of an effective retail offer across multiple museums and heritage sites in Leicestershire, including Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, 1620s House & Garden, Melton Carnegie Museum and Harborough Museum and the Record Office (at Wigston).
The role presents a great permanent opportunity for someone with good administrative skills and attention to detail, combined with a creative flair.  To be successful you will need a good understanding of working with day-to-day finance processes, as well as the ability to effectively support our shop / retail offerings at sites, including supplier and stock management and merchandising.  We are also particularly looking for a candidate that is self-motivated and will have the personal confidence to work well on their own, seeking input when necessary.  A willingness to regularly travel to our sites across the County is also vital.
In return, you will have a very varied workload from visitor level reporting, cash management, customer invoicing and other financial processes to retail processes including supplier relationship management, bringing new products on board, stock control and merchandising.  These areas all require great attention to detail and high levels of personal organisation to deliver effectively.
This is a permanent, full-time position (5 days/37 hours).
Key essential experience and requirements:
  • NVQ 2 qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject area, or demonstrable experience.
  • Retail environment, including stock control, visual merchandising, buying trends and pricing / margins.

  • Effective time management and ability to work on own initiative (within agreed boundaries).
  • Good communication skills, as well as building productive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • IT systems including MS Office, web-based financial systems and electronic point of sale.
