Café Trainer/Supervisor for adults with learning disabilities.

The Watch | Café 2 CIC (Community Interest Company) is a not-for-profit business that supports adults with learning disabilities to develop skills for supported employment / employment. The café opened in February 2020, and is based inside the Central Police Station at Byron House on Maid Marian Way. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who enjoys bringing a diverse team of trainees together, combining all their skills and qualities to promote a successful service. The role is shared with a job-share partner.
 
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic, adaptable and committed trainer/supervisor with an interest in the field of Learning Disabilities. Some experience of working with people with learning disabilities, and/or experience in another relevant sector such as Youth Work, public service. Knowledge and experience of hospitality, the food sector or industry is essential.  Employment is in partnership with Oak Field School, which has considerable experience in the field of work-related learning, and is strongly committed to promoting work skills, self-confidence, and independence. Oak Field runs its own café at school, Café 2 is an adult venture, open throughout the year including school holidays, funded separately, and with a completely different Board of Directors.
  
What does the role involve? Under the direction of the CIC Manager, the key duties are to ensure the effective operation of the café and to train and supervise the trainees. This includes key holder responsibilities, training and supervising adults with learning disabilities in high quality food and drink preparation and customer care, stock management, and EPOS reconciliation. Through a positive approach, and encouraging and supporting the trainees, the trainers/supervisors will promote supported employment, internships and work-related activities for adults with learning disabilities – The Watch | Café 2 CIC hopes to expand from this into other targeted areas.  The post can include occasional PA support (personal care and hygiene) for the trainees, and liaison with their supporters, as appropriate. The successful candidate will be expected to be able both to use their own initiative, and to promote teamwork. Barista and food preparation training will be offered, as will online training in Food Safety, and other training in Safeguarding/Protection of Vulnerable Adults, H+S, First Aid and Fire Awareness, as appropriate.
 

The specific distribution of the 21.5hrs/week for this post is currently:
  

7.15am-4pm, with 30 mins lunchbreak on Monday and Tuesday. 7.15am-12.15pm on Wednesday.
 
This is 52 weeks/year.
 
We close for 2 weeks in late December until early January, and this is part of your annual leave allocation. Please note car parking is not available within Byron House.
