The Public Health Department in Leicestershire County Council is enthusiastic and passionate about protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of the local population. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Public Heath Strategic Lead to join the team.
Public Health is one of six departments within the County Council, exercising the full range of public health duties, including the delivery and commissioning of services.  The Director of Public Health is a chief officer of the council, reporting directly to the Chief Executive. This new position reports to a Consultant in Public Health and will be instrumental in shaping the Leicestershire health care public health offer to the local Integrated Care System. It will translate data into insight and promote a preventative approach through partnership work at system, place and neighbourhood.
We are looking for a suitably qualified, driven, individual with excellent technical/ analytical public health skills and experience of successfully leading, developing, and influencing strategic partnership across organisational boundaries. This is a great opportunity to shape the local healthcare public health offer and to make a difference to improving the health and wellbeing of our local communities.
This is a unique Public Health strategic role that provides excellent opportunities for developing broader public health skills which could springboard into future positions, for example the Public Health Speciality Training Scheme. We are keen to get the right person for the role and the organisation can offer the successful candidates flexible working, access to the NHS pension (if eligible), training and development opportunities and an opportunity to shape this new role within the department.
