JOB PURPOSE
To work with young people on the streets who are causing concern for local residents in order to identify their needs and issues and provide support in order to prevent them from becoming involved in offending behaviour or ASB. To develop personal and social skills, raise aspirations and improve outcomes for young people across Leicestershire. The nature of this post involves working afternoons, evenings and weekends
      
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Recognised qualification or equivalent qualification, can demonstrate substantial experience or demonstrable experience identified within the section below
  • Experience of street based youth work
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to build relationships with young people and others
  • Awareness of issues affecting young people
  • Understanding the nature of anti social behaviour and how it impacts communities and young people
  • Understanding of Youth Work principles and practice
  • Knowledge of effectiveness of sports diversionary projects
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise own work and the work of others
  • Able to plan a programme of diversion activities with young people
  • Ability to engage with young people on the streets
  • Ability to liaise with a range of partner agencies
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Opportunities and the ability to apply this to all situations.
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
  • Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle. However, a reasonable adjustment will be considered for an applicant with a disability
  • Ability to travel to and access a range of buildings including family homes
  • Requirement to work outside usual office working hours, including evening and weekends
  • The post-holder must be willing to undertake further training within an early help professional development framework

There is availability to work flexibly including afternoons, evenings and occasional weekends
