Providing enhanced support, guidance and mentoring to young people with complex issues with the aim to increase their life opportunities.
  • NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) plus significant relevant experience
  • Significant experience of working with children, young people and families in either case or group work situations 
  • Knowledge of youth justice and safeguarding legislation and the operation of the youth justice system 
  • Knowledge of child development and an awareness of differing needs of children and young people
  • Understanding of the impact of crime and the responding to needs / protection of victims 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and in a multi-agency context
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including presenting information to professional partners; good recording, administrative and report writing skills
  • Good organisational, planning skills and working to deadlines
  • Able to engage with people from a variety of backgrounds, in particular those children, young people and families that are hard to reach
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise work IT skills to include the ability to use word processing packages and databases / case management systems 
  • An understanding of, and commitment to Equal Opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations.
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010. 
  • Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle. However, a reasonable adjustment will be considered for an applicant with a disability. 
  • Ability to travel to and access a range of buildings including family homes
  • Willingness and ability to work outside usual working office hours and to a 08.30h – 17.00h duty system and weekend work depending on operational needs.
