To achieve this we require a Literacy Lead who will be responsible for leading, managing and developing literacy for the 4 schools and wider organisation whilst ensuring a high level of learner engagement through collaborative preparation and delivery of an innovative, creative and flexible curriculum.
      
You will hold the following accountabilities:
• Develop a strategic vision for literacy  
• Devise a whole school literacy policy in consultation with a range of stakeholders
• Ensure that schemes of learning and resources support the development of literacy in subject areas   
• Lead, develop and enhance the literacy teaching practice of others.    
• Coordinate literacy enhanced support where required for learners  
• To be involved in the development of a whole school reading framework
• Liaise and collaborate with subject leaders and  Learning Managers regarding learner literacy difficulties.  
• Support colleagues with selecting appropriate resources and techniques to support learners with literacy difficulties. Provide training as needed.     
• Support Heads of Area with evaluation of literacy practice across the organisation through our QA processes.       
• Ensure that teaching responds to the Literacy needs of learners
• To support curriculum development within English   
• To keep up to date with national developments in English and teaching practice and methodology, and ensure they are embedded where appropriate.   
• To embed R.E.A.L Education’s approach of Authentic Literacy
• To actively monitor and respond to curriculum development and initiatives at national, regional and local levels.   
• Teaching commitments across the week and key stages
     
You will be an experienced education professional, with at least three years experience of working with children and young people within an education setting. The successful candidate must hold a teaching qualification such as PGCE or QTLS and have sound knowledge and experience of Literacy. You will be working closely with the Leadership Team, English Lead, Governors and Committees as relevant, to foster a positive working relationship so therefore must have strong communication skills at all levels.
   
It is an essential requirement to be able to demonstrate experience at leadership level or be an aspiring middle manager.
 
This role does include driving across Nottinghamshire, therefore please ensure you have a full Driving Licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance.
