  • Level 3 childcare qualification (NNEB/NVQ3 or equivalent) or housing related qualification
  • Relevant paid or unpaid experience of working with care leavers within a social care setting or similar
  • Providing support services to young people leaving Care
  • Experience of Housing regulations
  • Child Development
  • Home Safety Issues
  • Safeguarding children issues
  • Organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work creatively
  • Basic child behavioural techniques
  • The needs of older children
  • Of relevant housing policies and legislation
  • Ability to communicate clearly with children, young people, parents and other professionals
  • Ability to work with a range of professionals and engage in Multi-disciplinary work – able to represent the department
  • Commitment to preventative work and demonstrable improved outcomes for children, young people
  • Time Management/organisational skills

  • Able to produce clear, accurate records and reports
  • Able to analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Team manager
  • Able to communicate clearly and accurately, orally and in writing, with a wide range of people, including representatives from other agencies, using skills of negotiation and persuasion
  • Able to prioritise effectively a wide range of competing demands to meet deadlines
  • Attendance - evidence of regular attendance at work
  • Ability to travel to service points within Leicestershire County Council in a cost efficient way
  • Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.  However a reasonable adjustment will be considered for an applicant with a disability
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Opportunities, and the ability to apply this to strategic work and day-to-day situation
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995
