The Leicestershire Registration Service are looking for a part-time Registrar of Births, Deaths, Marriages and Civil Partnerships for their Melton Mowbray Office.  The days of working will be Thursday and Friday, 8 hours on each day.  The Registrar will be expected to register births, deaths and stillbirths, issue the associated certificates, attest notices of marriage and civil partnerships, and register marriages and civil partnerships.  They will also perform marriage, civil partnership and citizenship ceremonies.  The Registrar will be accountable for security stock, will reconcile cash and will be expected to study and apply regulations, circulars and other legal instructions associated with the role.  For the full list of duties and responsibilities, see the Job Description attached below.
- Be educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in English and Maths or experience of working within a role which requires a daily high standard of literacy and numeracy
- Have demonstrable experience in a responsible, challenging public facing role
- Have worked in a role involving learning and interpreting large amounts of legislative detail
- Have the ability to record and pass on information neatly and accurately, with attention to detail
- Proven ability to organise and prioritise their own workload, and to carry out duties without supervision
- Have the ability to manage conflicting priorities and ensure delivery to departmental and organisational timescales even when under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Have a good working knowledge of a range of IT systems including Microsoft Office
- Have the ability to converse at ease with customers, and provide advice in accurate spoken English
- Be calm, courteous, diplomatic, tactful and discrete with the ability to take control in any situation
- Must be flexible, willing and able to work outside normal hours when required including weekends and Bank Holidays
