To assist with the implementation of the County Council’s Corporate Parenting Strategy to improve the life chances of children and young people in care. A key element of this role is to facilitate and support looked after children and young people to engage in particpation activities such as Choir and Children in Care Council and any other events planned by the Corporate Parenting Team. This role will require some evening work.
  • Good standard of written and spoken English, to write letters, newsletters and reports to a high standard
  • Good standard of maths and spreadsheets, sufficient to produce basic statistical information
  • Either professional qualification relevant to working with children and families OR substantial relevant experience
  • Proven recent work experience of providing services to children pr adults who are vulnerable to social exclusion
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Experience of working with groups
  • Experience of successfully planning and implementing projects or events
  • Experience of working in or with children's social care
  • Experience of delivering participation, involvement and consultation activity with service users
  • Knowledge of children's social care
  • Knowledge of services to children in care and leaving care
  • Knowledge of children's rights
  • To relate to and understand the needs of children and young people including children in care
  • To apply equality and diversity policy in practice
  • To communicate enthusiasm for Corporate Parenting initiatives to children and young people and encourage them to contribute and share their views
  • To communicate effectively orally and in writing with a wide range of people, within and outside the County Council
  • To collect, analyse and draw conclusions from information to aid decision-making
  • To write clear, concise, well-presented reports e.g. for senior management
  • To work without direct supervision
  • To plan own work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
