JOB PURPOSE:
  • To ensure that all relevant and appropriate interventions have been put in place to enable Children and Young People (CYP) who require SEN support to achieve their expected learning outcomes
  • To liaise effectively with parents and young people, schools and other Services to ensure appropriate interventions are in place
  • To quality assure the effectiveness of the graduated response within schools and to raise awareness of, and signpost to, relevant local authority guidance
  • To contribute towards the Request to Assess Meeting (where EHCP referrals are screened).
   
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in relevant subject Or Demonstrable experience
  • Recent and relevant experience in a Special Educational Needs context
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts and implications of special education needs
  • Evidence of ability to extract relevant information from a range of data/variety of sources and to present it in different formats as appropriate
  • Commitment to the County Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy
  • High Level of numeracy, literacy and oral skills
  • Ability to present information in clear written form for a variety of audiences
  • To be able to use relevant IT systems and processes which support the delivery of the service
  • Ability to respond flexibly to changing demands and prioritise accordingly
  • Ability to work in partnership with parents and staff from other agencies
  • Dependable and able to meet deadlines, when under pressure
  • Highly motivated, flexible and able to use initiative
  • Ability to build trust with families, schools and colleagues
  • Contribute to training events as appropriate
  • Be committed to providing high quality public service
  • To be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice
