Job Purpose:
To provide:
• To promote inclusion
• To provide support for the pupils in the classroom and  ensuring that the pupil is fully included in learning
• To support the pupil across the curriculum, under the direction of the class-teacher and SENCO
• To prepare resources for teaching as directed by the class teacher.
• To support the pupils in the playground, being mindful of their health and safety in relation to their Special Educational Needs and encouraging safe interactive play.
• Provide positive reinforcements, praise and rewards.
• To ready pupils for reintegration back in mainstream school.
• To escort pupils in the minibuses to and from school, with due regard for their safety and secure travel at all times in accordance with the relevant policies, procedures and good practice whilst maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation.
     
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language
• Experience as in a primary school
• Working with the general public within a service provision environment.
• Keeping written records / documentation in a neat and tidy manner.
• Working with vulnerable groups.
• The provision of education for excluded and vulnerable pupils
• SEND legislation and county SEND policy and  procedures
• Ability to apply up to date legislation and practice in supporting inclusion for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to motivate  pupils.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior management, other staff, other agencies, and gain their confidence.
• Ability to support and work in partnership with parents and carers.
• Ability to work as an effective member of different teams within the school.
• Effective IT skills and the ability to use IT to develop service delivery and monitoring.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work with a large degree of autonomy within agreed boundaries.
• Able to communicate verbally with people with varying capabilities.
• Ability, with training, to undertake a series of moving and handling operations associated with the transport of people and static loads
• Sufficiently numerate in order to carry out calculations relating to time recording.
• Ability to follow set programmes & instructions.
• Customer care and quality services
• Passenger transport services
• General good health must be maintained in order to undertake contracted duties
• Ability to travel to service points within Leicestershire County Council in a cost efficient way.
• Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.  However a reasonable adjustment will be considered for an applicant with a disability.
• An understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Opportunities, and the ability to apply this to strategic work and day-to-day situations.
