Shared Lives is a Social Care service within Leicestershire County Council which looks to match carers to clients.
Our clients are adults from the age of 18, with learning disabilities, mental health, autism and Asperger’s, physical disabilities, sensory impairment or who are living with dementia, older people or who have lifelong disabilities and who need support in a homely environment.
Previous experience is not always necessary as each Shared Lives carer brings their own unique skills and experience to the job. We ask that you have life experience, a desire to help people and a commitment and positive approach to supporting vulnerable adults.
We are looking for Shared Lives Carers who can provide day service activities for adults. Activities could include helping develop skills to live independently like cooking and home maintenance, arranging creative activities, going for walks in the countryside, going shopping and eating out.
Day Service sessions are normally three or six hours a day and are arranged around the needs of the client. In return you will receive excellent pay (pay dependant on the needs of the client), generous tax breaks, access to Blue Light and Wider Wallet Discount Schemes, training and 24 hour support from professionals, Shared Lives Plus membership details and the support of other Shared Lives Carers in Leicestershire. There are also separate allowances for mileage which can be considered.
Our carers love their work, are passionate and want to make the best life possible for their clients, while having fun at work. If you want to find out more about our service or have an informal discussion, please contact sharedlives@leics.gov.uk or telephone 0116 305 8133.
The role will be subject to a DBS (Disclosure & Barring service) check.
All Shared Lives Carers are classed as self-employed.
We are also looking for Long-term and Short Breaks Carers, see our other vacancies.
