JOB PURPOSE:
To undertake high quality, thorough assessments and provide a good quality service, to the families of Leicestershire who have expressed an interest in:
  • Becoming foster carers for Leicestershire County Council
  • In adopting a child within the family
    
Assessment Social Workers will also be expected to assess Private Foster Carers to promote the safeguarding of this cohort of children and young people living in Leicestershire.
      
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Formal Social Work Qualification; BA/ MA/DipSW/CSS/CQSW.
  • Registered with the HCPC
  • Knowledge of relevant existing legislation and in-depth knowledge of National Minimum Standards, Statutory Regulations and Guidance which relate to fostering, private fostering and adoption.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
  • Ability to work to strict timescales
  • Ability to work in a professional way with families and other professionals.
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Can demonstrate a flexible approach and a persistence and resourcefulness to get things done
  • Able to use ICT systems to record casework.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Ability to travel when necessary to locations throughout the County and beyond
  • Ability to work outside normal office hours if required
  • An understanding of, and commitment to equal opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations
  • Must be able to perform all the duties and tasks of the job with reasonable adjustments, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
