JOB PURPOSE
The Children and Families Wellbeing Service works with Children, Young People and their families to support them to achieve the best outcomes possible where there are vulnerabilities such as risk of offending, re-offending causing harm to others and their own emotional wellbeing. The principle aim to minimise (and ideally prevent) the risk of these events occurring through planned interventions and innovative delivery styles.
 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) plus significant relevant experience or demonstrable experience within the sections below
  • Significant experience of working with children, young people and families in either case or group work situations
  • Experience of engaging with young people who are vulnerable or from a hard to reach group
  • Knowledge of Youth Justice and safeguarding legislation and the operation of the youth justice system
  • Underpinning knowledge of theories of engagement of young people
  • Awareness of the issues faced by young people (social, economic and inter-personal)
  • Understanding of the production and delivery of effective interventions for young people
  • Knowledge of child development and an awareness of differing needs of children and young people
  • The ability to work independently as part of a team and in collaborative with partners and other
  • Excellent and engaging communication skills written, verbal and presentation
  • The use of innovative and interactive techniques to engage young people parents staff and partners, in particular those children, young people and families that are hard to reach
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to priorities work
  • An understanding and commitment to Equal opportunities and apply in all situations
  • To have a flexible approach to working, including out-of-hours and an ability and willingness to travel to various locations in a cost-effective way
  • To have possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with relevant insurance, however a reasonable adjustment will be made for an applicant with a disability
  • The post holder may be required to attend from time-to-time, other training courses, conferences, seminars, and meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the service
