The starting salary is £25,295 (Level One) rising to £26,999 (Level Two) on the first year anniversary, subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period (pro rata for part time workers).

Have you significant experience of working with children and young people (CYP) with autism and are looking for a new challenge? Do you have high expectations and are you committed to improving outcomes at times of transition for some of the most significant and challenging CYP with autism in Nottingham City? Do you have the flexibility to work across a range of schools, settings and colleges with CYP of all abilities, from Y5 to college?

The Autism team is part of the Inclusive Education Service. The team works with the CYP who present with the  most significant and challenging needs relating to autism. We work with nurseries, mainstream schools, colleges and special schools and provide support to families.
     
We are looking to appoint for November 2019 a highly motivated and experienced support worker who can work in partnership with schools, colleges, settings and families to facilitate successful transition between settings, for CYP with autism including those with very high anxiety.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Relevant qualification such as: Level 3 NCFE CACHE Award in supporting teaching and learning in schools, Level 3 certificate in supporting teaching and learning in schools, Level 3 NCFE CACHE diploma in specialist support for teaching and learning in schools, relevant Foundation Degree relating to childcare and education
  • Substantial experience (more than 5 years) of working with children with SEND and autism in an educational setting
  • Sound knowledge of recognised strategies to support CYP with autism
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents/carers
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Clean driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
