Leicestershire County Council is rated as one of the best performing councils in the country.

Our Legal Services team support our work by providing high-quality legal advice, playing a vital role and supporting our democratic processes.

We are thinking proactively about planning for our future workforce, particularly in the key area of social care law supporting the County Council’s statutory functions in respect of vulnerable adults and children. As part of this process we are looking for a Trainee Solicitor who has an interest in this dynamic and fascinating area of legal practice – someone who perhaps has studied family law at degree level and/or as an option in their LPC. The successful candidate’s Training Principle will be the Assistant Head of Law responsible for Social Care and Safeguarding.  To comply with Law Society requirements  the successful candidate will not be based exclusively in the teams practising in social care, s/he will also have the opportunity to gain substantial pre – qualification experience in other areas of contentious and non – contentious Local Government Legal practice.

As an employer Leicestershire County Council can offer:
An attractive benefit package. A salary of up to nearly £27k, excellent annual leave, pension package, staff restaurant and parking.
A positive work life balance. We will support you to achieve a work-life balance. Unlike some councils and the private sector, there are no fee earner time recording targets.
A supportive and stable working environment. The health and wellbeing of our staff is important to us. All our managers are experienced legal practitioners, highly regarded both internally and externally.
Cutting edge case management systems and access to legal research databases. We’ll give you the technology you need to achieve results.
