About the role:
ESPO currently have a number of Trainee Procurement Officer positions available in the Procurement & Compliance division. ESPO are seeking talented individuals to help deliver an excellent and professional procurement service to the entire public sector, and are inviting applications from candidates interested in joining us. Experience is not essential.
   
About you:
You will be an ambitious graduate, a motivated team player seeking a career in procurement and supply chain. You must be willing to study for Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) membership. The role requires the post-holder to work in a number of ESPO’s category teams to gain the skills and experience to become a professional buyer:
   
You will:
• work as a key part of one of our procurement service teams with responsibility for the procurement of a range of products and services across a number of category areas, for the management of contracts, customers and supply chains.
• Support buyers and category managers to undertake procurement activities, including but not limited to supply market and customer needs analysis, tendering and other procurement processes, and contract management within the EU Regulations.
• Engage with customers and suppliers to ensure products/services meet customer needs and offer best value for money.
• Have the ability to recognise, maintain and strive to increase contract performance levels including promotion and marketing contract solutions to ensure take up by customers in line with financial targets.
• Be enthusiastic, professional and passionate about wanting to make a difference.
• Have strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills combined with a commercial focus enabling you to deal with customers and suppliers alike.
• Have excellent attention to detail, strong numerical and analytical skills giving you the ability to analyse trends and interpret market data.
   
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum 2:2 degree in Business Studies/Economics/Commerce/Purchasing or similar.
• Commercially minded and flexible team player with the ability to prioritise own workload and use initiative.
• Good communicator who enjoys working with customers, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
• Well organised, about to prioritise and manage time effectively to progress multiple projects and tasks.
• Willingness to study for the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) qualification.
