The starting salary is £32,878 (Level One) rising to £34,788 (Level Two) on the first year anniversary, subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period (pro rata for part time workers).

An exciting vacancy has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join our small and friendly Trading Standards team.
 
As we are a small team, you will have the opportunity to gain a lot of experience in different areas of work, making a significant contribution to the welfare of our local vibrant communities.  This may push you out of your comfort zone, but ultimately you will benefit in developing your skills and gaining confidence in new situations.  Don't worry - you will have the support of the team around you!
 
As we are a City authority, we work closely with our partners such as Safer Housing, Environmental Health , ASB and the Police (we are based in a police station and benefit from sharing intelligence databases).  This means we can do innovative work together and find problem solving solutions.
 
You will hold the DCATS or equivalent Trading Standards qualifications, and be able to demonstrate successful achievement across a wide range of subject areas.

 - DCATS or equivalent Trading Standards qualification
 - A professional, calm and positive manner
 - An ability to be sensitive but remain objective
 - The ability to work in a small team, but equally under your own initiative
 - Effective communication skills
 - The skills to deal with people from different backgrounds
 - Excellent written and IT skills, with a high attention to detail
 - Flexibility
 - A commitment to putting the citizen at the heart of all aspects of our work
 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • DCATS or equivalent Trading Standards qualification
  • The ability to undertake the full range of Trading Standards work, including investigating complex criminal matters, and dealing with victims of serious crimes.
  • Committed to further professional development.
