• To champion improved outcomes for children and young people in Leicestershire
• To ensure that children and families receive high quality, coordinated services which meet their needs and keep children safe
• To work with partner agencies in a coordinated and approach wherever possible to achieve good outcomes for children and families
• To take a lead in embedding the Department practice framework underpinned by the Signs of Safety Methodology to support the delivery of high-quality social work practice
• Relevant Degree or equivalent
• Professional Social Work Qualification
• Evidence of continued learning and development
• Professional Body membership
• Substantial post qualifying experience of working with children and families experience
• Experience of statutory childcare work including safeguarding child protection and court processes
• Experience of supervising staff or social work students
• Experience of managing staff
• Full understanding and strong record of practicing using signs of safety methodology or commitment to further development
• Knowledge of relevant guidance and regulation including the Children Act 1989 Working Together 2015 children and social Work Act 2017
• Excellent safeguarding knowledge and best practice in the delivery of quality services
• Knowledge of the principles of staff supervision continuing professional development and performance management
• Knowledge of what excellent social work practice in the delivery of quality services
• Knowledge of current legislation requirements governance and relevant policies and procedures
• Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
• To communicate effectively with a wide range of people using skills of negotiation and persuasion
• To manage resources and budgets
• To motivate staff and partners to work together effectively for change
• Deliver results to tight deadlines
• Excellent presentation, written and oral skills
• Ability to apply qualify standards in performance management to improve staff performance and outcomes for children
