  • To Champion improved outcomes for children and young people in Leicestershire as part of the operational management structure of children social care
  • To ensure that children and families receive high quality coordinated services which meet their needs and keep children safe
  • To work with partner agencies in a coordinated and integrated approach wherever possible to achieve good outcomes for children and families
  • To take a lead in embedding the Departmental practice framework underpinned by the signs of safety Methodology to support the delivery of high-quality social work practice
  • To provide management accountability to front line social work services in Children in care, Child Protection, strengthening families and first response
  • To lead a team working with unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children and Young people
  • Relevant Degree or equivalent
  • Professional Social Work Qualification
  • Evidence of continued learning and development
  • Professional Boy Membership
  • Substantial post qualifying experience with children and families experience
  • Experience of statuary childcare work including safeguarding child protection and court processes
  • Experience and understanding of the needs of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children
  • Experience of supervising staff or social work students
  • Experience if managing staff or social work students
  • Knowledge of relevant guidance ad regulation including the Child Act 1989 Working together 2015 Children and Social Work Act 2017 etc.
  • Knowledge of in-depth safeguarding knowledge and best practice in the delivery of quality service
  • Knowledge of principles of staff supervision continuing professional development and performance management
  • Knowledge of what excellent social work practice looks like
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people using skills of negotiation and persuasion
  • To deliver results to tight deadlines
  • Able to collect analyse and interpret performance data and statistical information
  • Ability to apply quality standards in performance management to improve staff performance and outcomes for children
  • An understanding of and commitment to Equal opportunities and the ability to apply this to all situations 
  • Willing to work duty systems and to work outside normal hours as and when required
  • Ability to drive around the County
