JOB PURPOSE:
To champion improved outcomes for children and young people in Leicestershire.
To ensure that children and families receive high quality,  coordinated services which meet their needs and keep children safe.
To work with partner agencies in a coordinated and integrated approach wherever possible to achieve good outcomes for children and families
To take a lead in embedding the Departmental practice framework underpinned by the Signs of Safety Methodology to support the delivery of high-quality social work practice
          
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Relevant Degree or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued learning and development
  • Professional Social Work Qualification
  • Professional Body Membership
  • Substantial demonstrable and fully evidenced experience identified within the section below.
  • Substantial   post qualifying experience of working with children  and families experience
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Experience of supervising staff or Social Work students
  • Experience of statutory childcare work, including safeguarding, child protection and court processes
  • Full understanding and strong record of practising using the signs of safety methodology or commitment to further development
  • Knowledge of relevant guidance and regulation including the Children Act 1989,Working Together 2015 ,Children and Social Work Act 2017 etc.
  • Knowledge of current legislative requirements, governance and relevant policies and procedures associated with the areas identified above.
  • Knowledge of what excellent social work practice looks like
  • Knowledge of the signs of safety methodology
  • Knowledge of current national policy.
  • Knowledge of the principles of staff supervision, continuing professional development and performance management.
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge and best practice in the delivery of quality services
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • To communicate effectively with a wide range of people, using skills of negotiation and persuasion
  • To analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and to take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Service Manager.
  • To manage resources and budgets effectively and efficiently
  • Deliver results to tight deadlines.
  • Good all round IT skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills – written and oral.
  • Good at prioritisation and managing a heavy workload.
  • To collect, analyse and interpret performance data and statistical information
  • Motivate staff and partners to work together effectively for change.
  • Ability to apply quality standards in performance management to improve staff performance and outcomes for children
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
  • Willing to work duty systems and to work outside normal hours as and when required
  • An understanding of, and commitment to Equal Opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations.
