Salary:£40,701 - £44,964 plus £3,000pa Market Premia - Pro-Rata

To champion improved outcomes for children and young people in Leicestershire as part of the operational management structure of children social care.
To ensure that children and families receive high quality coordinated services which meet their needs and keep children safe.
To work with partner agencies in a coordinated and integrated approach wherever possible to achieve good outcomes for children and families.
To take a lead in embedding the Departmental practice framework underpinned by the Signs of Safety Methodology.
To support the delivery of high quality social work practice o provide management accountability to front line social work services.
  • Relevant Degree or equivalent
  • Professional Social Work Qualification
  • Management qualification
  • Evidence of continued learning and development
  • Professional Body Membership
  • Substantial post qualifying experience of working with children and families experience
  • At least three years experience in Adoption
  • Experience of statutory childcare work, including safeguarding, child protection and court processes
  • Experience of supervising staff or Social Work students
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Knowledge of relevant guidance and regulation including the Children Act 1989, Working Together 2015, Children and Social Work Act 2017.
  • In depth safeguarding knowledge and best practice in the delivery of quality services
  • Knowledge of the principles of staff supervision, continuing professional development and performance management.
  • Knowledge of the signs of safety methodology
  • Knowledge of what excellent social work practice looks like
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and to take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Service Manager.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, using skills of negotiation and persuasion
  • Ability to manage resources and budgets effectively and efficiently
  • Motivate staff and partners to work together effectively for change.
  • Deliver results to tight deadlines.
  • Good all-round IT skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills – written and oral.
  • Good at prioritisation and managing a heavy workload.
  • Ability to collect, analyse and interpret performance data and statistical information
  • Ability to apply quality standards in performance management to improve staff performance and outcomes for children
  • An understanding of, and commitment to Equal Opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations.
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
  • Willing to work duty systems and to work outside normal hours as and when required
  • Ability to drive around the country
