JOB PURPOSE
  • To champion improved outcomes for children and young people in Leicestershire as part of the operational management structure of children's social care.
  • To ensure that children and families receive high-quality co-ordinated services which meet their needs, keep children safe and secure timely permanence.
  • To work with partner agencies in a co-ordinated and integrated approach wherever possible to achieve good outcomes for children and families.
  • To take a lead in embedding the departmental practice framework underpinned by the Signs of Safety Methodology to support the delivery of high quality social work practice.
  • To provide management accountability to Permanence social work services  

 ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Relevant degree or equivalent
  • Professional Social Work qualification
  • Evidence of continued learning and development
  • Professional Body Membership
  • Substantial post qualifying experience of working with children and families experience
  • Experience of statutory childcare work, including safeguarding, child protection and court processes
  • Experience of supervising staff or Social Work students
  • Knowledge of relevant guidance and regulation including the Children Act 1989, Working Together 2015, Children and Social Work Act 2017 etc.
  • In depth safeguarding knowledge and best practice in the delivery of quality services
  • Knowledge of the principles of staff supervision, continuing professional development and performance management
  • Knowledge of the signs of safety methodology
  • Knowledge of what social work practice looks like
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • To analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and to take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Service Manager
  • To communicate effectively with a wide range of people, using skills of negotiation and persuasion
  • To manage resources and budgets effectively and efficiently
  • Motivate staff and partners to work together effectively for change
  • Delivery results to tight deadlines
  • Good all-round IT skills, excellent presentation skills - written and oral
  • To collect, analyse and interpret performance data and statistical information
  • Ability to apply quality standards in performance management
  • An understand of, and commitment to Equal Opportunities
  • Willing to work duty systems and to work outside of normal hours as and when required
