  • To champion Improved outcomes for children and young people in Leicestershire
  • To ensure that children and families receive high quality, coordinated service which meet their needs and keep children safe
  • To work with partner agencies in a coordinated and integrated approach wherever possible to achieve good outcomes for Children and families
  • To take lead in embedding the Departmental practice framework underpinned by the Signs of Safety Methodology to support the delivery of high-quality social work practice 
  • Relevant Degree or equivalent
  • Professional Social Work Qualification
  • Management qualification
  • Evidence of Professional Body Membership
  • Continued learning and development
  • Substantial post qualifying experience of working with children and families experience
  • Experience of statutory childcare work, including safeguarding, child protection and court processes
  • Experience of supervising staff or social work students
  • Experience if managing staff
  • Full understanding and strong record of practicing using signs of safety methodology or commitment to further development
  • Experience in working with families where a child has a disability
  • Proven Commitment to inclusive practice
  • Knowledge of the SEND reforms and SEN code of Practice
  • Knowledge of relevent guidance and regulations including the Children Act 1989 working together 2018 Children and Social Work Act 2019 etc.
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge and best practice in the delivery of quality services
  • Knowledge of principles of staff supervision continuing professional development and performance management  
  • Knowledge of what excellent social work practice looks like
  • Knowledge of current legislative requirements, Governance and relevant policies and procedures associated with the areas identified above
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • To analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure and regular reporting to the service manager
  • To communicate effectively with a wide range of people using skills of negotiation and persuasion
  • To manage resources and budgets effectively with a wide range of people
  • Motivate staff and partners to work together effectively and efficiently
  • Deliver results to tight deadlines
  • Good all-round IT Skills
  • Excellent presentation skills -Written and oral
  • Good at prioritizing and managing a heavy workload
  • To collect analyse and interpret performance data and statistical information
  • Ability to apply quality standards in performance management to improve staff performances  and outcomes for children
