JOB PURPOSE:
To manage and develop high quality services for fostering families including:
- Robust management oversight
- The delivery of a high quality support services
- The delivery of training in accordance with legal requirements and departmental policies and procedures
- Meet the regulatory Standards of the Fostering Regulations 2011 and National Minimum Standards
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Social Work Degree or equivalent, e.g. CQSW, DipsSW (with specialism in Children's Services)
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Substantial post qualification experience of working with children and families
- Experience of working within a regulated service (Fostering)
- Experience of working with service users from BAME and those who have a protected characteristic
- Experience of working to the Signs of Safety Methodology
- Knowledge of legislation and procedures, particularly in relation to Fostering / Permanence
- Knowledge of the recruitment, assessment and supervision processes for Foster Carers
- Knowledge of the importance of retention of foster carers and the support mechanisms required
- An understanding of what constitutes a quality service
- Knowledge of the principles of staff supervision, continuing professional development and performance management
- Awareness of the cultural, racial, linguistic and religious background of children, young people and families
- Knowledge of health and safety at work
- Working within policies and procedures, to set clear plans and objectives and evaluate outcomes
- To analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Service Manager
