JOB PURPOSE:
       
To manage and develop high quality services for fostering families including:

- Robust management oversight

- The delivery of a high quality support services

- The delivery of training in accordance with legal requirements and departmental policies and procedures

- Meet the regulatory Standards of the Fostering Regulations 2011 and National Minimum Standards

    

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Social Work Degree or equivalent, e.g. CQSW, DipsSW (with specialism in Children's Services)
• Evidence of continued professional development
• Substantial post qualification experience of working with children and families
• Experience of working within a regulated service (Fostering)
• Experience of working with service users from BAME and those who have a protected characteristic
• Experience of working to the Signs of Safety Methodology
• Knowledge of legislation and procedures, particularly in relation to Fostering / Permanence
• Knowledge of the recruitment, assessment and supervision processes for Foster Carers
• Knowledge of the importance of retention of foster carers and the support mechanisms required
• An understanding of what constitutes a quality service
• Knowledge of the principles of staff supervision, continuing professional development and performance management
• Awareness of the cultural, racial, linguistic and religious background of children, young people and families
• Knowledge of health and safety at work
• Working within policies and procedures, to set clear plans and objectives and evaluate outcomes
• To analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Service Manager
