The Safeguarding Hub is looking for an experienced Senior Practitioner / Team Manager to join the team as a permanent Team Manager. 
The role is full time (37 hours), Grade 13 which attracts a salary of £41,820 - £46,203pa plus £3,000 Market Premia, based at Wigston Police Station – subject to police vetting.  This role will predominately involve managing children who are being criminally exploited.

  • To manage and develop high quality services for children and their families in accordance to the identification, prevention and protection of children at risk of CE, Missing and Trafficking.
  • To implement the CE operational delivery plan and manage performance in order that services continuously improve and service objectives are met.
  • To champion children’s safeguarding across the partnership ensuring professional autonomy to enhance children’s safeguarding.


  • Social Work degree or equivalent, e.g. CQSW, DipSW (with specialism in children’s services)
  • SWE Registered 
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Substantial post-qualification experience of working with children and families
  • Experience of statutory child care social work
  • Experience of supervising staff and other resources
  • Knowledge of LSCB protocols, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families
  • Knowledge of the principles of staff supervision, continuing professional development and performance management
  • Awareness of the cultural, racial, linguistic and religious background of children, young people and families
  • Knowledge of issues and relevant legislation in respect of child sexual exploitation, criminal exploitation, missing and trafficking
  • Ability to analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Service Manager 
  • Ability to apply the principles of equal opportunities in service provision and employment, promoting anti-discriminatory practice
  • Ability to prioritise effectively a wide range of competing demands to meet deadlines, responding flexibly to changing requirements 
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate written documents and reports
  • Ability to travel to service points within Leicestershire county council in a cost efficient way
  • Possession of a valid driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Must be able to work outside normal office hours e.g. evenings/nights on occasion if required
