We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated teaching assistant to provide high quality support for our students with special educational needs as well as supporting our teaching staff, tutors, support staff and parents. This role would be ideally suited for someone who is looking to get into teaching.
The successful candidate will work as part of the Special Educational Needs department to support students and help them to fully participate in activities and gain the relevant support they need for their learning.

The purpose of this role is to:
  • Enhance students’ education, life skills and emotional well-being.
  • Support students who experience barriers to learning so they can achieve the best of which they are capable.
  • To support students who have additional educational needs.
  • Provide support to students during independent/group work, keeping them on task, engaged and motivated.
  • Support students who have social, emotional and mental health issues to help them to develop their social and learning skills.
  • Provide targeted support to meet students’ individual needs, implementing Individual Education Plans where appropriate.
  • Work with subject teachers, SENDCO and PASCO to contribute to curriculum planning, adapting teaching programmes where necessary to enable target students to access the curriculum.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Be enthusiastic about learning and providing our students with special educational needs access to learning that suits their needs.
  • Have GCSE English and Maths (A*-C) or equivalent level 2 qualifications.
  • Evidence of further education, particularly in core subjects.
  • Be an ambassador for the school in relation to our vision and values, serving our students and the wider community.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the national curriculum as well as knowledge of the Academy’s individual policies.
  • Have experience of working with young people, remaining calm in challenging situations.
