We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and committed linguist who can inspire students at KS4 and desirably, but not essentially, at KS5. You will join a well-established and forward-thinking department dedicated to ensuring that all students achieve or exceed their potential.
Ashby School is a thriving, successful and over-subscribed 14-19 Academy with 1,700 students on roll including 600 post-16. Conveniently located close to the M42 and M1, within easy reach of several areas of outstanding natural beauty and with the newly created national forest on the doorstep, the school is set in its own attractive grounds in the expanding market town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire. With an excellent reputation within the local community a recent Ofsted inspection found the school to be a ‘good school’ in all inspection categories.
The post offers an excellent opportunity for either an experienced teacher with a proven record of academic success looking for a new challenge, or an individual who is new to the profession. We offer an excellent induction programme within a supportive environment and are committed to high quality professional development and continuous improvement in both teaching and learning.
Lessons in our Languages Department are delivered in a suite of well-resourced, purpose built, classrooms fully equipped with a state of the art sound system, data projector, interactive white board, Apple TV, internet access and an extensive range of resources for both GCSE and A-level. The school has excellent links with local primary and high schools and regularly holds after school language masterclasses for students who love languages as much as we do. Each year the department undertakes foreign trips and recent visits have included Cologne, Bruges and the European parliament in Strasbourg.
If you have energy, drive, a passion for your subject and the potential and ambition to be outstanding, we would welcome your application.
