JOB PURPOSE:

To undertake parenting support and assessment programme with families experiencing significant difficulties, including kinship carers and foster carers. To undertake direct work with children and young people to meet their identified need.
 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Level 3 childcare qualification (NNEB/NVQ3) or equivalent
  • Experience of working with parents and children
  • Understanding of social and environmental factors that have an effect on vulnerable children, young people and families
  • Knowledge of child development, safeguarding children issues and basic child behavioural techniques
  • Awareness of the cultural, racial linguistic and religious background of children, young people and families
  • To have organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with children, young people, parents, colleagues and other professionals
  • Ability to work with a range of professionals and engage in multi-disciplinary work
  • Able to engage parents and carers in preventative work
  • Time management skills and able to respond flexibly to changing requirements
