Social Worker - Disabled Children's Service

JOB PURPOSE:
To provide high quality social work services to severely disabled children and their families, in accordance with legal requirements and departmental policies and procedures
                    
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Social work degree or equivalent e.g. CQSW, DipSW (with specialism in children's services)

  • Evidence of continuing professional Development
  • Post -qualification experience of working with children and families
  • Significant experience of statutory child care social work, including care proceedings/court work
  • Knowledge of Childcare legislation, Safe-guarding procedure and policies and a commitment to work to these
  • Knowledge of Framework for the Assessment of Children in Care and their families
  • Awareness of the cultural, racial linguistic and religious background of children and young people and families
  • Ability to apply principles of equal opportunities in practice
  • Ability to communicate clearly with children, young people, parents colleagues and other professionals
  • Able to undertake initial and core assessments to high standard
  • Able to analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure and take responsibility for their outcomes and regular reporting to the team manager
  • Able to communicate clearly and accurately orally and in writing with a wide range of people including representatives from other agencies using skills of negotiation and persuasion
  • Able to prioritise effectively a wide range of competing demands to meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel to service points within Leicestershire County Council in a cost-effective way
  • Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
  • Able to work outside of normal working hours i.e. evenings on occasions if required
  • Must be HCPC registered.
