To deliver high quality social work services to severely disabled children and their families in accordance with legal requirements and departmental policies and procedures  
• Social Work degree or equivalent, e.g. CQSW, DipSW (With Specialism in children's services)
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• Post-qualification experience of working with children and families
• Significant experience of statutory child care social work including care proceedings/court work
• Experience of supporting staff or social work students
• Childcare legislation, safeguarding procedures and policies and a commitment to work these
• Framework for the assessment of children in need and their families
• Awareness of cultural, racial linguistic and religious background of children, young people and families
• Continuing professional development including self-development through supervision and performance management
• Able to apply principles of equal opportunities in practice
• Ability to communicate clearly with children, young people parent's colleagues and other professionals
• Able to undertake initial and core assessments to a high standard
• Able to work effectively as a team member
• Able to analyse information to reach sound decision, often under pressure and take responsibility for their outcomes, and regular reporting to the Team manager
• Able to produce clear, accurate records and reports
• Able to work effectively a wide range of competing demands to meet deadlines
• Time management skills and able to meet deadlines
• Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment where appropriate, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010
• Ability to travel to service points within Leicestershire County Council in a cost-effective way
• Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
