Leicestershire County Council is seeking to recruit a Senior Transportation Engineer to lead on the coordination of the Highway Authority's responses to local and County Planning Applications. The successful candidate will become a senior member of the Highways Development Management team who have a busy, varied and complex workload responding to over 2700 planning consultations per annum. In this role you will be tasked with leading the Highway Authority's response to the larger and most complicated developments from at least three Planning Authorities. You will  have a proven track record working in highways development management in the public or private sector, be an excellent communicator, negotiator and be able to work flexibly to accommodate often fast evolving circumstances.
 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Degree in relevant qualification e.g. Civil Engineering, Transportation, or;
  • Equivalent demonstrable work experience of highways development management or relevant other area of work;
  • Experience of working in a multi agency environment;
  • Supervisor and line manager of a team with a varied workload;
  • Interpreter and writer of technical and non technical reports;
  • Provider of strategic and technical advice to stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of the planning process as it relates to highways and transportation, strategic transportation issues and current legislation relevant to highways and transportation;
  • Excellent communicator and presenter with the ability to negotiate, shape and influence outcomes;
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills;
  • An understanding of community needs;
  • Be able to build relationships with stakeholders, peers and partners;
  • Lead and deliver high performance of the team;
  • Creative thinker and effective negotiator;
  • Be able to work to tight timescales and to agreed targets.
