An exciting roles has become available for a Senior Technician within the busy Engineering Services, Highways Delivery. The role is to assist in the design and delivery of schemes relating to highway infrastructure to support the Engineering Services team.
    
Key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
  • Assisting with and carrying out, under minimum supervision, surveys and the preparation of plans, calculations and documentation connected with all types of highway infrastructure relevant to the Engineering Services.
  • Designing blueprints and drawings for Engineering & construction schemes using CAD software and interpreting technical information.
  • Making sites visits and completing measurements to obtain material quantities, including liaison with operational supervisors / contactors for ECI.
  • Producing Pre-construction information including H&S information and identification of hazards.
  • Liaising with other Departments of the County Council, Local Elected members, Other Local Authorities, statutory undertakers, other public bodies, the emergency services and the general public on matters to do with the service area.
    
To succeed in this role, you will have
  • A BTEC Higher / NVQ level 4 in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification OR
  • Experience that meets the essential requirement, and evidence of continued learning and development.
  • Experience of working in an engineering setting, in relation to design, management, maintenance or construction processes; working as part of a team on civil engineering or highway maintenance projects.
  • Undertaken measurements of work, checking submitted accounts and monitoring budgets.
  • Delivered projects and programmes of work to time, quality and cost.
  • A good knowledge of current highway design standards, construction techniques, or maintenance standards and of CDM 2015, primarily duty holder’s responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including use of CAD software and ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software
  • Can build positive relationships across stakeholders, peers and partners, creating open and transparent relationships based on trust.
