Family in the East Goscote area would like to engage a support worker on a self-employed basis to work with their son who is 22 years old. Willing to consider someone on an employer/employee basis – paid at the lower rate of £10.00 per hour. Hours are 8 per week to be worked on a Saturday and one evening in the week, day flexible.
The focus of the role is to support him to get out and about and participate in social activities. It would be ideal if you had similar interests – super heroes, action/adventure films, gaming, Disney. He particularly likes going to the cinema and is an animal lover especially horses. He will require someone who can provide reassurance and prompting in a kind patient manner.
Experience of working with and individual with reduced sight an advantage. Ability to advocate on his behalf without taking over as communication can be difficult for him.
Access to a vehicle essential along with the initiative to source appropriate activities to participate in. You will need to flexible in your approach, whilst respecting the privacy of the individual and recognising the need for discretion/confidentiality always.
