JOB PURPOSE

  • To manage school appeals from preparation to delivery
  • To gathering information for school appeals
  • To advise and where necessary challenge schools academies in accordance with national and local legislation /policies
  • To work with a range of internal and external agencies to ensure children receive education
   
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • NVQ Level 4 qualification in a relevant area or equivalent level of relevant experience
  • Demonstratable experience of Appeals or tribunal preparation and representing at hearings
  • Experience of interpreting statutory led areas of work
  • Experience of leading, developing and implementing strategies to facilitate improvements in the preparation and delivery of schools appeals
  • Experience of working within political environment
  • Experience if influences and motivating colleagues and multi-agency partners
  • Experience of preparing and representing the LA and/or own admitting authorities at appeals / tribunals
  • Experience of managing good working relationships and leading effectively a small team
  • Experience of working in an environment of where confidentially and security of sensitive information is required
  • Working knowledge of the most recent Schools Admissions and Appeals Codes
  • Knowledge of applying LA and/or non LA school admissions policies to test for eligibility
  • An understanding of the principles of good information, advice and guidance
  • Keeps upto date with new developments in their field of expertise including changes in legislation, regulation and local policy
  • Ability to interpret, analyse and present complex information to meet the needs of diffrent audiences
  • Ability to establish system system/processes to effectively track progress against targets
  • Evidence of working with computer systems to input, store and retrieve data
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and understanding of good organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate and work successfully with a range of partners, coherently both verbally and in writing
  • Uses customer feedback to make recommendations for appeal improvements
  • An understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations
  • A flexible approach to working including out-of-hours and the ability and willingness to travel to various locations
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation
  • To ensure that all duties and responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Council policies and procedures, in particular those on equalities and diversity, health and safety and finance
