As part of the principle aim of preventing offending and re-offending by children and young people, to supervise young offenders on community reparation placements during weekends and holidays, feeding back information to case managers on progress made.

  • Experience working with young people
  • Good practical skills
  • Knowledge surrounding the issues that relate to young offenders
  • Knowledge of health and safety issues
  • Knowledge of youth justice and safeguarding legislation and the operation of the youth justice system
  • Knowledge of restorative approaches
  • Have an understanding of the impact of crime and responding to the needs/protection of victims
  • Able to supervise young people on practical tasks
  • In-depth knowledge of practical skills such as gardening, painting and decorating etc
  • Ability to work as part of a team and in a multi-agency context
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills, including presenting information to professional partners; good recording, administrative and report writing skills
  • Have good organisational, planning skills and experience in working to deadlines
  • Be able to engage with people from a variety of backgrounds, in particular partner organisations, children, young people and families that are hard to reach
  • IT skills to include the ability to use Microsoft packages and databases / case management systems
  • Have good assessment skills and the ability to use assessment tools
  • Have an understanding of, and commitment to equal opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010
  • Possess a valid driving license and access to a vehicle. However, a reasonable adjustment will be considered for an applicant with a disability
  • Be able to travel to and access a range of buildings including family homes
