Salary Range: £32, 094 - £34, 653 p.a. pro rata - 2 days a week (Monthly salary £1069.80). Local Government pension scheme applies.

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a part –time Special Educational Needs and Disability Officer in Lals. This is a permanent two day a week post working closely with the Compliance Officer, our Exams Officers and a range of curriculum managers and staff. You will report directly to one of the Lals Senior Adult Learning Mangers. You will be responsible for taking a lead on co ordinating and monitoring the progress of SENCO referrals, supporting SENCO assessors, curriculum staff and exams officers to ensure our learners receive the additional support they need to succeed on their chosen learning programme. The post can be based anywhere in the County where Lals has a staff base including County Hall.
N.B Please note candidates will normally start at the bottom of the scale except in exceptional circumstances and in agreement with their line manager and strategic HR.
You will be working closely with internal and external Officers and Managers, including other learning providers, a range of accreditation bodies and LCC’s Learning and Development Team who recruit a number of Apprentices and Adult Social Care. This is a pivotal central role and integral to the support of our Learners to enable them to succeed. LALS was rated “Good” by Ofsted in February 2018 and the additional support we give to our learners was recognised. You will be responsible for maintaining these standards and developing them further with the aim of achieving an outstanding rating in this area in the future.
The purpose of the post is to ensure all our Learners are given the opportunity to succeed and achieve regardless of their educational needs by ensuring additional support is put in place in a fair and timely way. You will also be responsible for ensuring all our learners feel safe and secure, and benefit from a welcoming learning environment. The successful applicant will be an experienced and knowledgeable professional with a background in adult learning committed to delivering and maintaining high quality and standards in all aspects of Learner engagement and support. You will have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), strong ICT skills, and the ability to engage with key stakeholders internally and externally, including Learners, Staff and Senior Managers.
• Level 5 Teaching qualification
• Level 7 SENCO qualification
• Extensive experience providing SENCO Assessments
• Extensive experience supporting others moderating work/quality control
• Experience working with disadvantaged adult learners
• Experience of working in an Adult Learning environment
