We are seeking to appoint a Special needs Officer to join an expanding Special Needs and disabilities Assessment Service. With successful experience of working within SEND, you will be committed to providing a high quality, inclusive service to the children and young people of Leicestershire, using your expertise and knowledge of the current legislation governing SEND to ensure consistent decision making and high quality Educational, Health and Care plans with excellent interpersonal skills and time a management you will deliver successful partnership working with parents/carers, education providers and other professional colleagues across the authority and health service, whilst managing the demands of complex caseloads and line management of casework team members.
     
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Relevant BTEC Higher, relevant NVQ Level 4 or equivalent or equivalent work experience
• Recent and relevant experience in a social Educational Needs context
• Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts and implications of special needs
• Knowledge of current educational legislation, regulations and guidance as they apply to special educational needs
• Clear understanding of school organisation and funding
• Commitment to the County Councils Equal opportunities policy
• A high level of numeracy, literacy and oratory skills
• Ability to analyse and present data, Able to analyse complex legislation and guidance
• Demonstrated ability to disseminate information and provide training for other
• Ability to respond flexibly to changing demands
• Able to motivate others
• Manage people and resources to create more effective and efficient service delivery
• Develop a high performing team enabling continuous learning for all employees and celebrating success
• Ensuring teams have clear purpose direction and targets
• Dependable and able to meet deadlines when under pressure

• Capable of exercising judgement within complex legislation and policy requirements
• Be committed to providing high quality public service
• Ability to visit clients and work outside normal working hours where necessary
• Ability to travel to schools both in and out of the County
