This post will be annualised hours - 1100 to be worked during term time (Monday to Friday) with the requirement to work some hours during the school holidays to meet service needs.
      
MAIN DUTIES:

To actively promote safe & sustainable travel initiatives by delivering a programme of Bikeability Cycle Training to school children.  The role will involve you in delivering all 3 levels of Bikeability Training in both an off-road and on-road environment, progressing the rider’s skills and confidence to enable them to ride in more complex road environments.  The training follows a recognised national delivery standard.
This post is home based with responsibility for managing your own work load and allocated number of schools.  You will be required to actively promote training and your availability to schools to ensure a full programme of Bikeability training is booked and delivered.  
 
This post is the subject of an Enhanced DBS check.
     
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Achieved Bikeability National Standard Accreditation (NSI) /working towards the new 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training or the willingness to undertake this four-day training course.
  • GCSE (grade C) or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Experience of working with children of school age in an advisory or instructor’s role
  • Ability to converse with teachers, school staff, parents and the community to ensure smooth delivery of Bikeability
  • Ability to ride a bike in a safe, competent and confident manner
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and ability to work in an organised, methodical manner
  • Valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for work duties
